Diez.md: “It’s a prestigious industry with good pay conditions.” What to know if you want a career in winemaking in Moldova
As part of the #tencareerguidance project, we also talk about the challenges in viticulture and winemaking. The sector is a job generator, especially in rural areas, where we want young people to stay and develop their communities. We discuss the prospects of a career in winemaking with Ludmila Stratuța, HR director of the Purcari Group.
What kind of jobs does the winemaking sector offer in our country, where can young people work and what kind of investments do, we need in the sector to make it attractive for employees – these are some of the questions we tried to answer together with Ludmila Stratuța, HR director of Purcari Group.
“As paradoxical as it may sound, being an agricultural country, we have very few programs to help us promote these professions. This could be solved through a sustainable partnership between the Ministry of Education and the business environment, so that we can convey to young people, who are looking for career opportunities, that this industry is a prestigious one, that it is one that offers very good pay, fair working conditions and, in the country, a very good career can be developed for our young people,” our guest explains in the interview.
Ludmila Stratuța also says that the employer can often supplement the educational needs of an employee in the field. “At Purcari, we focus on developing talent, first and foremost. There are positions for which, obviously, we need experience behind, but in most cases, we look at the potential of the candidate and then, considering that potential and having the right attitude towards their career and their job, we invest a lot in developing them. Those in production benefit from an internship with a mentor. Our internship program is a working example of developing and training new employees.”
