Château Purcari breaks the mold and launches the Orange wine
Château Purcari expands its Sapiens, Nocturne and 1827 range with the launch of Orange, a wine exclusively made from the Rkatsiteli grape variety. Produced from white grapes, it follows the winemaking method typically reserved for red grapes. The result is a distinct amber hue, with sophisticated aromas of ripe fruits, subtle hints of honey, and spices.
Orange is more than just a wine—it’s a journey through the history of winemaking in the Caucasus, dating back 8,000 years, when white grapes were left to macerate and ferment in ceramic vessels for an entire year. This ancient tradition inspired northern Italian winemakers and later French winemakers, who decided to experiment with this method for making white maceration wine.
Château Purcari, too, chose to break from convention, crafting Orange from the versatile and characterful Rkatsiteli variety.
